GENESEO, N.Y. — One player led his squad to consecutive league titles and beyond. Another set a new standard for scoring. Both claimed top honors for Section V Boys Soccer.
Justin Arilotta garnered the 2018 Ronald Zorn Large School Player of the Year, and Adam Enders earned the 2018 Jeff Farnsworth Small School Player of the Year as announced Thursday night at the 36th Annual Section V Boys’ Soccer Banquet.
For the second straight year, Arilotta scored the game winner as the Hilton Cadets clinched the Monroe County Division I title. The senior attacker has 11 goals and five assists on the season including the only tally in Hilton’s 1-0 victory over Penfield to seal the 2018 divisional crown. It was Arilotta who connected on a golden goal to defeat Faiport, 1-0 as Hilton, a year ago, secured its first league title since 2003. Arilotta scored a goal in Hilton’s semifinal win over Edison Tech. The Cadets went on to win the Class AA title earlier this week with a 2-1 victory over Rush-Henrietta in the Class AA final. Hilton will play Section VI representative Clarence in the NYS Far West Regional. The Cadets are looking to reach the NYS semifinals for the second time in four years.
