Thursday Wrap: Hockenberger and Spencerport get revenge; Manz, Wolfe have golden touch

Brandon Manz scored an unassisted goal three minutes into the first overtime to lift Fairport (8-2-0/5-2-0). Max Fiorica gave Victor (3-8-0/1-6-0) the lead in the first half with an assist from Alex Newton. Manz assisted on a Kingsley Malcolm tally with 15 minutes remaining to knot the contest.

GREECE ARCADIA 1
For the second time in eight days cross-town rivals played a level match. Cameron Misiurewicz gave Arcadia (7-2-2/3-2-2) a 1-nil edge with less than 10 seconds remaining in the first half when he volleyed an Adam Strand cross. Dylan Rice provided the equalizer for Athena (5-1-3/5-0-2) 23 minutes into the second half when headed a Ryan Burns cross into the back of the net. READ MORE.

RUSH-HENRIETTA 2
Curtis Rowe had a goal and an assist to lead Rush-Henrietta (5-4-1/4-3-0). Mohamad Ali started the scoring for the Royal Comets. Billy Urbanski added an assist. The shutout was the sixth this season for R-H.

IRONDEQUOIT 4
GATES-CHILI 0
Emir Erkenkalken scored twice including 14 minutes into the match. Luke Melidona and Keegan Vankerkove added a goal apiece. RJ Beh, Carter Mezzio, Luke Buckley and Ben DiCesare each had an assist for the Eagles.

GREECE ODYSSEY 1
HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA 0
Dylan Ange connected on his 15th goal of the season, and Greece Odyssey (9-1-0/6-0-0) clinched the Monroe County Division IV title – the first in program history. Delshad Aziz assisted on Ange’s marker five minutes into the second half. Odyssey has won four straight.

SPENCERPORT 1
Justin Hockenberger converted a first-half corner kick opportunity from Frants Valdozka and Spencerport (7-3-0/5-1-0) avenged an 8-1 loss to Churchville (9-2-0/6-1-0) earlier in the season. The Saints came into the game ranked No. 8 NYSSWA Class A.

PITTSFORD-MENDON 2
BRIGHTON 4
Gabriel Barraclough-Tan snapped a two-all tie in the 60th minute, and Brighton (8-3-0/5-2-0) won its fifth straight game. Luke Charlesworth and Caio De Mederios scored first-half goal to give the Barons a 2-1 edge going into the break. Mendon’s Pierce VanBenthuysen leveled the match 10 minutes into the second half with an assist from Alex Morley. Connor McQuillan added an insurance goal for Brighton with two minutes remaining. De Medeiros assisted on McQuillan’s marker. Barraclough-Tan, Nico Leone and Mat Ochs each had an assist for Brighton. Matt Bamford scored an unassisted goal for Mendon in the first half.

HILTON 3
WEBSTER SCHROEDER 0
Tom Callery scored twice, and Justin Arilotta added his sixth goal of the season to lead Hilton (9-0-1/7-0-0). Jack Gombatto, Joshua Ranke and Brett Wilkins contributed an assist apiece. Hilton, No. 7 NYSSWA Class AA, has outscored opponents 24-4 on the season. The shutout was the Cadets’ fourth straight.

BROCKPORT 0
PITTSFORD SUTHERLAND 4
Will Bowen scored twice and added an assist as Sutherland (7-4-0/4-3-0) avenged a 1-0 loss to Brockport earlier in the season. Nate Cotroneo and Dylan Kladstrup chipped in with a goal apiece in the Knights’ second straight win. Niklas Riewe had two assists, and Kladstrup helped on Bowen’s second goal of the night.

CANANDAIGUA 0
WEBSTER THOMAS 1
Zach Wolfe connected on the golden goal in the first overtime with an assist from Sean Malley.

Emmanuel Nsengiyuma had a goal an assist to lead WOI. Isaac Hakizimana, Ehlermoo Tong and A Bardques added a goal apiece. Suheil Jeylani had an assist in the win.

BISHOP KEARNEY 5
LIMA CHRISTIAN 0
TJ Tytler, Evan Stevely, Jordan Searles and Casey O’Gara scored first-half goals as Bishop Kearney took a 4-0 lead into the break. Saw Lo Mue added a second-half tally. O’Gara, Fernando Furioso and Beni Luyindula added an assist apiece. The win was the third straight for Kearney.

GANANDA 6
VERTUS 0
Andrew Gabbard scored twice while Ayden Neal had a goal an two assists to lead Gananda (6-4-0/4-4-0) to its fourth straight win. Zach Dier added a goal and an assist in the win. Jon Frost and Nathaniel Robinson had a goal apiece. Logan Chasey had an assist.

***Edit made to include Odyssey winning outright the Monroe County Division IV title. This is the first such title in Odyssey boys’ soccer program history.
