
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — DI Gold finished 2018 with an undefeated regular season record in Upstate Baseball League (UBL) action. A trio of players from that squad reaped individual accolades: Nick Vogt (Webster Schroeder) garnered 2018 UBL Player of the Year. Jack Willard (Webster Schroeder) was named Pitcher of the Year, and Andrew Wallman (Fairport) earned Slugger of the Year. In addition, Carlos Fantauzzi (Canandaigua) was named the DII Player of the Year while Ian McNabb (Webster Thomas) was selected DII’s top pitcher as announced by the UBL on Saturday. Canestro Clubs donated the awards presented to the five players.
Vogt finished the season with a league-leading batting average of .714 for DI Gold (8-0-1). He slugged at a rate of .857. In 24 plate appearances, he had an on-base percentage of .708 to finish with an OPS of 1.565. The right-hander also made four appearances on the mound and struck out five in 7.2 innings of work. He had an ERA 0.91.

Willard went 3-0 on the season and finished with an ERA of 0.00 in 10 innings of work. He did not allow an extra-base hit and opposing batters hit .189 against the right-hander. Among eligible pitchers, Willard led the league with a first-pitch percentage of 1.023.
Wallman led the first-place Gold with 11 RBI. His seven walks contributed to an on-base percentage of .500 and he stole five bases.
Fantauzzi tied for the DII high for hits (5). He also drove in four runs and stole a pair of bases. In his only appearance on the mound he struck out three in two innings of work and picked up a save. Fantauzzi also turned in a pair of dazzling plays in the field including one where threw out a runner at the plate from right field.

McNabb struck out 19 in 11 innings of work and finished with an ERA of 1.90. He did not allow an extra-base hit and limited opposing hitters to a .121 batting average.
