ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Jared Drake (Fairport) was a force at the plate and in the field. Anthony Roides (Fairport) dominated on the mound in his one outing of the week; Ian McNabb (Webster Thomas) did as well with his time on the hill. Carlos Fantauzzi (Canandaigua) did double service for DII Blue. The four garnered weekly individual hours as announced by the Upstate Baseball League on Monday.

Drake tied for the league lead with an on-base percentage of .714 over two games last week. The DI Blue infielder finished 3-for-5 with two walks in a pair of losses to first place DI Gold. He also drove in a run and stole a base. The middle infielder played errorless ball over eight changes for the week including a spectacular sequence when he snared a line drive off the of Nate Sherman and fired a strike across the diamond for an inning-ending double play.

Roides struck out eight over three shutout innings in his only outing of the week. The left-hander struck out eight of the 12 batters he faced while allowing just one walk and one hit (BAA .091). He retired seven of the last eight batters he faced to register his first win of the season. Roides helped his own cause with an RBI triple in the game.

McNabb slowed a Penfield Chiefs offense which had scored 33 runs combined in two previous games. The DII Blue left-hander struck out six and allowed one run on one hit over three innings. McNabb stranded runners on second and third getting two of those strike outs and a routine ground ball to escape a jam when it looked like Penfield would find its rhythm.

Fantauzzi paced the DII Blue offense with an RBI double, He was at his best on the defensive side. Playing right field, he grabbed a single on one hop and fired s strike in the air to home plate to erase a would-be run.

No To Be Overlooked
Tyler Cerame (DII Red/Hilton) continues to play errorless ball at short. Christian Brown (DII Red/Victor) struck out five and allowed two runs (one earned over three innings. Alan Michael LeFrois (DII Blue/Churchville-Chili) also displayed impressive glove work last week along with added a hit and a walk in the only game played. Alex Savory (DI Grey/Sodus) had three hits including a double, a walk and two RBI. Jacob Thomas (DI Grey/Home School) collected four hits with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored. Dylan Mackenzie (DI Red/Canandaigua) tripled, had three hits, scored twice, drove in a run and collected a save on the mound. Anthony Bonacci (DI Gold/Greece Athena) drove in four runs with three hits including a double, and Nick Bovee (DI Green/Brighton) had a 3-for-3 night with two triples, two RBI and a run scored.
