ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Nick Vogt (Webster Schroeder) helped DI Gold stay undefeated. DI Red’s Chris Sleeper (Rush-Henrietta) made the most of his time on the mound. DII Red’s Chase Playfair (Penfield) found his stride, and Tobey Wright (Rush-Henrietta) paced DII Red’s offense. The quartet earned weekly individual awards as announced by the Upstate Baseball League on Monday.
DI PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Chris Sleeper – DI Red – Rush-Henrietta
Sleeper did not allow a hit and struck out three over three shutout innings to finish the week 1-0. He was among eight pitchers in DI who compiled an ERA of 0.00 over the last seven days. Where the right-hander separated himself from the pack was his WHIP (.33). Sleeper also registered a first-pitch strike percentage of .778.
DI PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Nick Vogt – DI Gold – Webster Schroeder
Vogt hit .714 (5-for-7) for the week and tossed three shutout innings to earn DI Player of the Week. He capped his week going 3-for-4 performance with a double, two RBI and two runs scored. He finished with three RBI and four runs in three games. Vogt leads DI for the season hitting .733 and has hit safely in all six DI games.
DII PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tobey Wright – DII Red – Rush-Henrietta
Wright led all DII batters going 4-for-8 over the past seven days. He collected a double, drove in four runs and scored two more.
DII PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Chase Playfair – DII Red – Penfield
Playfair struck out eight and did not allow a hit over three scoreless innings last week. The right-hander is limiting opposing hitters to .143 and he is 2-0 on the season.

Not to be overlooked
Alex Savory (Sodus) capped a six-run DI Grey rally with a walk-off single. The right-hander also tossed a scoreless to get the win. He followed that with a 3-for-3 performance the next night. Last week’s Pitcher of the Week, John Gassler (Pittsford Sutherland/New York University) continued to baffle opposing batters with four scoreless innings last week. DI Blue’s Danny Guichard (Fairport) needed just 43 pitches to get through four perfect innings on Saturday. Jack Willard (Webster Schroeder) struck out three and allowed two hits over three scoreless innings. Alex Vogt (Webster Schroeder) kept pace with his brother at the plate with six hits in eight at bats. He drove in four and scored twice during the week. Robby Merkov (Webster Schroeder) collected five hits let week including two triples and a home run.
Men of Theft
Noah Horn (Greece Athena) reached base six times last week and stole six bases. Horn did that without being gunned down on the base paths. Through the first two weeks, he led the UBL with eight thefts without being caught stealing. Jose Morales (Irondequoit) swiped three bags last week also without being caught. He has five SBs on the season. Jacob Heredia (Edison Tech) also has five stolen bases this season. He collected three last week. Speaking of Heredia, he leads the UBL with 10 walks. Nobody else has more than seven.
