Savory and DI Grey walk off

Nick Vogt (Webster Schroeder) hurled three scoreless innings, and DI Gold rallied to tie the game in the sixth inning. Vogt struck out two, allowed one hit and faced one batter over the minimum. Jacob Keller (Churchville-Chili) reached on a fielder’s choice and eventually came home with the tying run on a Nate Sherman (Medina) sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Josh Ferris (Churchville-Chili) staked DI Red to a first-inning lead when he singled through the left side of the infield to score Nolan Hicks (Fairport). John Gassler (Pittsford Sutherland) started and fanned four over four shutout innings for DI Red. Ryan Coughlin (Greece Athena) tossed a shutout inning in relief. Jordan Maher (Midlakes) finished 2-for-2 with a triple. Dan Tirabassi (Rush-Henrietta) and Nick Ianniello (Penfield) had a single apiece. DI Gold’s Alex Vogt (Webster Schroeder) finished 2-for-2 with a walk.

DI GREY 14
Alex Savory (Sodus) connected on a walk-off single and hurled a scoreless inning as DI Grey (2-2) scored six unanswered. Savory plated Andrew Hebert (Webster Schroeder) and Ross Janezic (School of the Arts) with his second hit of the night. The left-hander struck out two in the top of the frame for his first win of the season. Trailing 13-8, Grey scored two in the sixth and added four more in the seventh.

Jose Morales (Irondequoit) tripled in a run, and Jacob Thomas (Homeschool) brought in a another run in the sixth with a single. Robby Merkov (Webster Schroeder) reached on an error to start the bottom of the seventh. Racer Lynch (Geneva) and Hebert worked back-to-back walks before Janezic doubled them home and set up Savory for the game winner. Savory finished 2-for-4 with four RBI. Merkov went 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple, two RBI and two runs scored. Janezic walked twice and scored three runs. Thomas was 3-for-3 with two RBI. Tim McClare (Gananda) doubled and drove in three runs on the night. Trailing 6-3, DI Blue scored six in the fifth and four in the sixth to take the five-run lead. Steven Kemp (Eastridge) drove in two with a two-out single and eventually scored in the sixth. Bobby Sellers (Brockport) had a two-run double in the fifth. Jared Drake (Fairport) was 2-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI. Noah Horn (Greece Athena) also collected two hits in two at bats with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI. Jerrad Fleck (Fairport), Kaden Helmer (Victor) and Dylan Boprey scored two runs apiece for DI Blue.
