Tobey Wright (Rush-Henrietta) finished 3-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored to pace the DII Red offense. Wright plated two with a double and highlighted a six-run third as Red took a commanding 9-0 lead. Ethan Hurwitz (Pittsford Sutherland) reached on a hit by pitch to start the start the stanza.

Joe Leuzzi (McQuaid) walked. Evan Brock reached on a fielder’s choice, and Wright doubled past first base and into right field. Chase Playfair (Penfield) started and struck out eight over three innings for the win. Christian Brown (Victor) fanned two over two innings, and Ethan Behnke (Victor) set down three on strikes over two innings of work. Hurwitz scored three runs. Brock walked twice and collected two RBI. Tyler Cerame (Hilton) connected on a solo home run and scored another run.

Mark Veerkamp (Webster Thomas) singled and scored twice. Paul Conroy (Bishop Kearney) tripled, drove in two and scored a run. Zach Harnischfeger (Greece Athena) scored a run. Justin Rodriguez-Colon started and allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits over two innings for Eastside.

DII BLUE 7
Ian McNabb (Webster Thomas) started, struck out seven over three innings and nailed down his first win of the season. The left-hander allowed just one runner past second. Alan Michael LeFrois (Churchville-Chili) connected on a two-out triple in the first and eventually scored as DII Blue grabbed an early 2-0 lead. LeFrois also singled and scored in the fourth when Blue stretched its lead to 5-0.

He finished with three runs on the night. Luke Pagano (Webster Schroeder) went 1-for-2 with a walk, two RBI and run scored. Sal Cutaia (Webster Schroeder) doubled and drove in a run. Preston Foryt and Jacob Jones (Avon) walked and scored a run apiece.

Christian Diaz singled and scored the Eastside run. Maurice Tindale collected an RBI. Justin Rodriguez-Colon hurled a scoreless inning in relief. Mike Conrow started for Eastside and retired eight of nine from the end of the first to the fourth inning.

Notes: The games featuring Eastside youth baseball and the Upstate Baseball League were made possible through the combined efforts of Dave Pasternack and the UBL. Pasternack, a long-time volunteer assistant at School of the Arts in the Rochester City School District, has coached the past two summers in the UBL and this summer as well with Eastside.
