Ferris leads DI Red; McClare carries big DI Grey first

John Gassler (Pittsford Sutherland/New York University) started, struck out five and faced the minimum over three shutout innings to pick up the win. The left-hander threw 38 (27 strikes) and allowed just two balls out of the infield. Josh Ferris (Churchville-Chili) connected on a two-run triple in the fourth inning when DI Red scored six to take a commanding 7-0 lead.

Gavin Moore (Hilton) reached on an infield single to start the inning. Dylan Mackenzie (Canandaigua) put runners on the corners with a base hit up the middle, and Chris Sleeper (Rush-Henrietta) brought in the first run of the inning with an infield single. Christian Blatter (McQuaid) added an RBI, and Nick Ianniello (Penfield) two more with a bloop single. Ferris added a doubled and finished 2-for-3 with a run scored. Ferris also tossed two shutout innings in relief. Blatter went 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored. CJ Wiest (Brockport) was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Troy Leibert (Brockport) doubled and collected two RBI to pace the DI Blue offense. Leibert started and surrendered two hits over two scoreless innings of work on the mound.

Danny Guichard (Fairport) fanned two and did not allow a hit over two innings of relief work. Aidan Coykendall (Churchville-Chili) was 2-for-2 with a run scored. Grant Rodriguez (Rush-Henrietta) had a hit and scored a run.

Tim McClare (Gananda/Canisius College) delivered a bases-clearing double in the first inning as DI Grey jumped to a 6-0 advantage and never looked back. McClare plated Jose Morales (Irondequoit), Andrew Treviso (Faiport) and Alex Savory (Sodus) on the play. Ben Hintz (McQuaid) hurled three innings of no-hit ball for the win.

Joey Alphonse (Greece Olympia) struck out three, walked three and surrendered just one hit over two scoreless innings of relief. Andrew Hebert (Webster Schroeder), Racer Lynch (Geneva) and Jacob Thomas (Homeschool) collected two hits apiece. Hebert scored twice and drove in two. Lynch had an RBI and came around to scored twice. Alphonse walked and scored a run. DI Green’s Nick Bovee (Brighton) worked three walks and scored one run. Ben Sousa (HF-L) received two free passes and also scored one run.

Logan Bush (Aquinas) had an RBI. Zach Geist (Greece Athena) tripled for DI Green’s first hit of the night with two outs in the fourth inning. DI Green brought the tying run to the plate in the top of the sixth inning. Keeler Thomas (McQuaid) struck out three and allowed one hit over two shutout innings in relief.
