Nelomes blast powers DI Green; DI Red trio combines on 1-hitter

Jaden Nelomes (Churchville-Chili) connected on a three-run inside-the-park home run as DI Green rallied to take the opener. Trailing 2-1 in the sixth inning, Nelomes plated Zachery Geist (Greece Athena) and Keeler Thomas (McQuaid Jesuit) when he drove a two-strike offering into the right center gap. DJ White (Rush-Henrietta) allowed one run on one hit over two innings of relief to pick up the win.

After issuing walks to the first two batters he faced, White eventually settled in and retired five straight batters to end the game. Michael Contini (Rush-Henrietta) started and surrendered one run on one hit over three innings. Thomas Cole (Greece Athena) struck out one and faced seven batters in two shutout innings. Nelomes walked, stole a base and scored on an error in the first inning.

He also turned in a pair of sparkling backhanded stops at third base.Cole singled and walked. Alex Savory (Sodus) went 2-for-2 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored for DI Grey. Jose Morales (Irondequoit) singled in two at bats. Patrick Walsh (Gananda) fanned three and allowed one hit over two shutout innings.

Ryan Coughlin (Greece Athena), Dylan Mackenzie (Canandaigua) and CJ Wiest (Brockport) combined on a 1-hitter to lead DI Red. Coughlin started and struck out five over two shutout innings of work to pick up the win. Mackenzie fanned three in two innings, and Wiest threw the final three frames to notch the save.

Daniel Tirabassi (Rush-Henrietta) and Mackenzie drove in a run apiece in the first inning to give DI Red a lead it did not surrender. Tirabassi doubled to bring home Gavin Moore (Hilton) and scored when Mackenzie singled to center. Jordan Maher (Midlakes) stretched the lead to three the next inning when he reached on a hit by pitch and eventually scored on an error. Josh Ferris (Churchville-Chili) and Will Van Fleet III (Webster Thomas) collected a single apiece. Noah Horn (Greece Athena) walked, stole a base and scored the lone DI Blue run in the seventh inning. Jarod Signorelli (Victor) singled, walked and turned in two impressive plays at shortstop including one where he charged a ball and made the smooth transfer to his throwing hand to get the batter at first base.

Jacob Heredia (Edison Tech) worked a pair of walks. Steven Kemp (Eastridge) threw two shutout innings in relief. Bobby Sellers (Rush-Henrietta) struck out one in one scoreless inning of work.
