LAKE MONSTERS 11
FLYIN’ FISH 4
The Lake Monsters put crooked numbers on the scoreboard in four of five innings and went on to beat the Fish and claim the 2018 Interstate Collegiate Baseball League’s Rochester Division. Max Troiani (Bentley University) tripled and scored on a Jourdan Plaisted (Elmira College) base hit to give the Monsters a lead they did not surrender at 2-1 lead in the second inning. They eventually pushed across four in the frame. Dom Palma (Manhattan College) scored from first on a Dan Freese (Cazenovia College) to start the inning. The Lake Show took advantage of three walks to scratch two more runs. Hayden Ewell (So. New Hampshire) allowed two runs on four hits and improved to 3-1 on the summer. Troiani also doubled, finished 2-for-3 and scored three runs to go along with a pair of defensive gems from third base.

MONARCHS 3
FLYIN’ FISH 2
Tyler Cyrus plated a pair of runs with a two-out double in the fifth, and the Monarchs (16-12) held on to beat the Fish. Cyrus drove in Ryan Kalbfus (Gannon University) and Cole Penders (Brockport College) when he one-hopped the fencing that extends into fair territory from the left-field foul pole 372 feet from home. Mike Donofrio (Brockport College) improved to 4-2. The right-hander started, struck out five and allowed three runs on one hit. Quin Ignaszak (Bethel) worked a scoreless inning for his first save. Tommy Baxter (Dayton) singled and scored a run. Tanner Cooper (Finger Lakes CC) drove in a run with a base hit. Mike Magnanti (St. Bonaventure) finished 2-for-3. Jeff Wilson (LeMoyne College) finished 2-for-3 and scored twice. The Fish centerfielder led the sixth with a base hit and later crossed home on a Phil Ferranti (Monroe CC) sacrifice fly. The Fish left runners on second and third in the frame. Josh Porter (Northwestern Ohio) fanned four and walked none over two scoreless frames of relief. Ryan Hill (Monroe CC) went 2-for-3 in the game.

DEUCES ARE WILD
Casey Grow saw his first action of the summer for the Lake Monsters. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits over 2.2 innings. To keep the streak going, Grow struck out two and (you guessed it) walked two.
