The Buffalo Bisons put up a six-spot in the third inning and cruised to a 7-0 win over the Red Wings in the series finale from Buffalo on Wednesday afternoon.
The loss snapped the Wings season-high four-game win streak. Despite the setback the Wings won the series and sit at 14-14 on the year, just 1.5 GB of the first-place Lehigh Valley IronPigs.
The Bisons used six singles, a double and a walk against the combination of Dietrich Ennsand DJ Baxendale to take control of the game in the third inning.
Enns entered Wednesday’s start having allowed just two runs combined over his last two starts (13.0 IP).
Rochester managed just four hits against Bisons starter Deck McGuire, one each from Jermaine Curtis, Brock Stassi, James Ramsey and Sean Miller.
Curtis extended his on-base streak to a Wings season-high 18 games.
Prior to the setback the Wings had won 11 of the last 13 matchups between the two 1-90 rivals.
The Wings head to Scranton/WB to open a four-game set against the RailRiders on Thursday night. Rochester will send Zack Littell to the hill who tossed 6.0 shutout innings in his Triple-A debut on Saturday.
