Tommy Baxter paced the Webster Schroeder offense. Eastridge’s Steve Kemp notched a pair of wins. Nick Serce did double duty for Irondequoit, and Raymond Specht led Rush-Henrietta to two wins. The foursome earned Player of the Week honors for April 16-22nd as voted upon by the Monroe County Baseball coaches.
Baxter led Schroeder to a pair of wins. The senior shortstop finished the week 8-of-14 (.571) from the plate with a triple, three walks, an RBI and five runs scored. He collected three hits and scored two runs as the Warriors opened the week with a 9-3 win over cross-town rival Webster Thomas. Baxter and Serce shared Monroe County Division II honors.
Serce went 6-for-11 (.545) on the week. The junior first baseman drove in three runs and scored three more to help the Eagles to two wins for the week. The southpaw also struck out 13 over six innings of work in a divisional win over Spencerport.
Specht went 4-for-7 with a double, triple, a walk, fours runs scored and an RBI for the Royal Comets last week to nab Division I POTW. The senior shortstop connected on a two-out triple and came home on an error on the play in R-H’s 6-1 win over reigning Class AA champion McQuaid on Saturday. He later received an intentional walk during a decisive five-run fifth as the Royal Comets completed a 2-0 week.
Kemp hurled the Lancers to a pair of wins to garner Division IV honors. The sophomore starter struck out six and allowed one run on four hits over five innings in a divisional win over Greece Odyssey. Kemp followed that performance with four innings of work against Franklin where fanned eight and surrendered three runs over five hits.
