ROCHESTER, NY – Rochester Red Wings General Manager Dan Mason is finally on the board. After two straight years of missing on his 50-degree guarantee, the “Duke of Doppler” hit his prediction in 2017 and hopes to continue that momentum when the Wings open this season at Frontier Field on Friday, April 6 at 6:05 p.m.
If the temperature displayed on the ballpark thermometer in right field doesn’t reach 50 during the game, all fans in attendance will receive a ticket to any Red Wings home game in April or May. The historical average high temperature in Rochester on April 6 is around 51 degrees.
“After struggling in my first two attempts in 2015 and 2016 I nailed it in 2017,” said General Manager Dan Mason. “I feel like I have this weather thing figured out and since it’s in the mid-40s today and Opening Day is still 51 days away I feel pretty good about picking up the few degrees I need to hit 50 on April 6th. And if 50 degrees isn’t warm enough for fans, we’ll be giving away a free scarf to the first 1,500 fans courtesy of Dunkin Donuts.”
Single-game tickets for Opening Day and the entire season will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Thursday at RedWingsBaseball.com. Fans can receive $3 off per ticket by using the promo code “ThanksFans” this Thursday and Friday only. The Wings are also offering a new Early Bird Pack which includes a premium box ticket to all 12 home games in April for only $40 per seat. If any of those games are rained out, those tickets may be exchanged for any remaining game in April or May.
The Red Wings are also offering $140 Diamond Dollars with the purchase of four new 2018 season seats on Thursday and Friday. Fans wishing to take advantage of this offer can call (585) 454-1001. Diamond Dollars are ballpark currency which can be used in the Team Store, Ticket Office or concession stands.
