ROCHESTER, NY – The Rochester Red Wings have come to terms with Monroe County on a lease agreement which will allow the Red Wings to continue to call Frontier Field their home for at least another 10 years, and likely 10 years beyond that.
The Red Wings appreciate the efforts of Monroe County in working to understand the team’s needs going forward, and more particularly, the important need for the appropriate upkeep of the stadium to ensure a prolonged useful life of the facility.
Rochester Community Baseball President/CEO/COO Naomi Silver issued the following:
“As with the previous lease, the County will receive a significant part of the revenue derived from baseball events at the stadium. But in this lease, we have certain assurances that the County will maintain and modernize the stadium as necessary, and will seek outside funding sources, when possible, to help accomplish this.
We are very grateful to our fans and the entire community for their support. They, like us, could not imagine the alternative if an agreement had not been reached, and their voices were heard. In light of the community’s overwhelming response, we would like to dedicate this year’s Opening Day on Friday, April 6th as ‘Community Appreciation Day.’
I’d like to thank General Manager, Dan Mason, Board Chair, Gary Larder, and the entire Red Wings organization for all their efforts over the course of the last year.”
Further information about Community Appreciation Day will be forthcoming.
