Nathan Paetsch, who has been on the injured list since Oct. 13, said he has been given medical clearance to resume practicing with the Rochester Americans on Tuesday.

Whether Paetsch is ready to play in either home game on the weekend — at Friday against Greece native Stephen Gionta and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Saturday — will likely be determined during the week.

The 15th-year veteran defenseman suffered a broken bone in his lower leg and/or ankle while blocking a shot in the second period of a game on Oct. 13.

His return could be perfectly timed. Fifth-year defenseman Andrew MacWilliam suffered a lower body injury in Friday’s game at Toronto. Coach Chris Taylor said on Saturday that the severity of the injury hadn’t been determined.

The Amerks (20-8-3-3) are tied with the Toronto Marlies (23-11-0-0) for first place in the American Hockey League’s North Division at 46 points.

The Amerks didn’t play or practice on Sunday or Monday.
