ROCHESTER, NY – Junior goaltender Christian Short (Vaughan, Ontario/Surrey Eagles) and freshman forward Alden Dupuis (Edmonton, Alberta/Bonnyville Pontiacs ) were honored by the Atlantic Hockey Association on Tuesday, Dec. 12. Short was named the Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week, while Dupuis garnered Rookie of the Week accolades for the week ending Dec. 10, 2017.
He made 11 saves in the first period, seven in period two and 10 in the final period, including one from point-blank range on leading scorer Erik Foley with 21 seconds left to preserve the shutout. He is now 2-2-0 this season with a 2.72 goals against average and a .911 save percentage. Over his last three starts, Short has a 1.68 goals against average and a .947 save percentage.
Dupuis scored twice, added an assist and was plus-3 in a weekend split at No. 9 Providence. On Friday, he scored a third period goal and was plus-1. Saturday, Dupuis scored an unassisted goal in the second period that gave RIT a 2-0 lead and assisted on Myles Powell (Courtenay, British Columbia/Cowichan Valley Capitals)‘s tally later in the period that made it 3-0. He was also plus-2 in the game. Dupuis now has six points on four goals and two assists and is plus-6 in 16 games this season.
The Tigers are off until Dec. 29-30, when they travel to Atlantic Hockey for Mercyhurst for a pair of games. RIT’s final 18 regular season games will be against league foes.
