Bright spots were few for the Clyde-Savannah baseball team this spring. The Golden Eagles limped to a 2-12 finish. The dismal record did not stop Wayne County coaches from acknowledging the play of Jaret Murray. Clyde-Savannah’s senior captain hit a league-leading .543 to earn 2017 Wayne County Player of the Year. The catcher/third baseman/right-handed pitcher rapped 19 hits on the season to lead Clyde-Savannah.
Brian Stuerrys guided Williamson to its first league title in 50 years and top seed in Class C1 to garner Coach of the Year. A pair of his Marauders – Nate Henner and Marty Williams – grabbed first team all-league honors.
East Rochester nabbed three spots on the first team with Andrew Chilleli, Dimitri Georgantoinis and Austin Mack earning nods. Gananda’s Jayden Castrechini and Tim McClare were also named to the first team along with Daniel Johnson (Sodus), Alex Savory (Sodus), Jorden Brown (North Rose-Wolcott) and Duncan Dobbins (Lyons).
