Jacob Faria hurled seven shutout innings, and the Durham Bulls took three of four from the Rochester Red Wings with a 6-3 victory, Thursday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Faria struck out six, walked one and allowed three hits. The 6-foot-4 right-hander faced 24 batters and threw 97 pitches – 58 for strikes.
Mike Marjama drove in two with a single in a three-run Durham first as the Bulls eventually took a 6-0 lead.
Rochester’s Niko Goodrum finished 3-for-4 on the day including a two-run single in the eighth inning. Leonardo Reginatto went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
Durham’s Johnny Field was 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Jake Bauers finished 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and two RBI.
Rochester fell to 23-25 with the loss. The Wings trail IL North-leading Lehigh Valley by 10.5 games. Rochester continues its road trip on Friday with a three-game set at Norfolk. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
