Jack Burke connected on a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning, and Penfield handed Webster Schroeder its first defeat of the season, 2-0. Kyle Straube scattered three hits for the complete-game win. The senior right-hander struck out six and walked two as the Patriots improved to 14-5 on the season and won for the third time in their last four games. Straube retired 13 of the first 14 batters he faced and induced 12 groundouts. He threw 99 pitches, 64 for strikes. Ryan Kalbfus reached on a two-out error to start the winning rally. Burke went 2-for-3 in the contest. Schroeder’s Connor Bisaillon started and threw six innings in the loss. The senior struck out two, walked none and allowed six hits. Schroeder took an earlier meeting between the two teams, 8-4 – in a game played on April 11. Three of Penfield’s losses this season have come by one run.

Trevor Povlock struck out eight and threw six innings of one-hit ball as Fairport improved to 13-5 on the season with its fifth win in the last six games. Mike Sabatine finished 2-for-3 on the day including a leadoff single in the first. The junior outfielder stole second, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and came home on a squeeze play with Evan Newkirk. Devin Marshall also went 2-for-3 and plated a pair with a two-out single in the sixth for the final margin. Matt Adams hurled a scoreless seventh for the save. Newkirk was 2-for-2 including a double. Thomas leadoff hitter Ryan Hill walked three times. The Titans put the leadoff batter aboard in three of the first four innings.
Victor 9 Churchville-Chili 7
Andrew Westbrook came on in relief with two on and two out in the sixth inning of a tie game and struck out the first batter he faced to end the threat. The junior worked the seventh for the win. Victor’s offense responded with three runs in the home half. Santino Rosso finished 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Blue Devils. Tommy Ryan went 3-for4 with a double and two RBI. Blake Hildman was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Churchville-Chili’s Jayson Wallace was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Victor improves to 10-9 and will host Aquinas to close the regular season on Tuesday.

Matt Bissnette, Ben Linehan and Matt Wang combined on a two-hit shutout. Wang had a triple and three RBI for the Knights.

James Sciortino scattered four hits over seven innings and faced one batter over the minimum while Ryan Ballard and Mike Ruta paced a 17-hit attack with four hits apiece as Athena won for the third time in its last four games. Sciortino needed just 62 pitches – 47 for strikes in the complete game effort. The junior also went 2-for-2 at the plate including a triple with three walks, three RBI and three runs scored. Ballard was 4-for-5 with a double, four runs scored and two RBI. Ruta also had four hits and scored three runs. Jake Kimble drove in three. Jagger Nucci and Jamie Shoemaker had two hits apiece. Casey Saucke collected two RBI.
William Dunbar finished 3-for-4 including an RBI double to spark a five-run third inning, and Brockport closed the regular season at 12-8. Noah Schultz went 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored. Gordon Fisher and Mike Jamele collected two hits apiece. Cole Penders drove in three runs and scored two more. Sam Velletri scored twice and had an RBI. Odyssey’s Josue Fontanez was 2-for-4 with a three-run home run as the Leopards took a 6-4 lead in the second inning.

David Stirpe was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. John Cavallaro and Ryan Schmitt drove in two runs apiece for Hilton (6-14).
