Batavia, Canandaigua clinch division titles; Ferranti paces Schroeder

Fairport 7 Penfield 6
Jake Schuler delivered the go-ahead run in the sixth inning with a one-out double to score Evan Newkirk, and Fairport won its third straight game. Matt Adams pitched two innings in relief and allowed one run on two hits for the win. Brian O’Connor paced the Red Raider offense going 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored.  Anthony Roides went 3-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.  Penfield’s Noah Wulforst was 2-for-3 with three RBI including a game-tying single in the top of the sixth. Ryan Kalbfus gave Penfield the lead in the first with a solo home run.  Fairport’s Trevor Povlock started and struck out five over five innings of work. Kyle Straube started and pitched five innings for Penfield.

Spencerport 3 Churchville-Chili 1
Jarod Barnard allowed one run on three hits over seven strong innings, and Spencerport rallied to beat Churchville-Chili. Barnard struck out four, walked four and induced 12 groundouts. Chris Carroll doubled and scored the go ahead run in the fifth on Joshua Brase’s one-out single. Nick Dennison plated Brase in fourth to knot the game at one. Joe Carroll reached on an error and scored an insurance run in the seventh for the Rangers. Christian Montanez gave Churchville a 1-0 lead with a two-out single in the first.

Canandaigua 5 Brighton 1 (game 1)
Matthew Carbary surrendered six hits and struck out four over six strong innings for the win. Connor Fisher squeezed in the go-ahead run in the fifth. Brighton’s Ryan O’Mara fanned four and allowed three over six innings.
Canandaigua 6 Brighton 2 (game 2)
Tanner Cooper scattered three hits and collected nine strike outs through five innings for the win.  Michael Sculli was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Matthew Carbary added a triple, and Canandaigua clinched the Monroe County Division-3 title.

Batavia 13 Greece Odyssey 7
Alex Jones allowed two earned runs on five hits over 5.1 innings, and Batavia (10-2/7-0) clinched the Monroe County Division-4 title. Michael Calderon finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored and closed out the game with a pair of strike outs. Casey Radka had a single and three RBI.  Jerry Reinhart was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. AJ Marcello was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI, and Alec Wagner finished 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Webster Schroeder 8 Irondequoit 4
Phil Ferranti finished the day 4-for-4 with four RBI including a run-scoring single in the first as Schroeder jumped out to a 7-0 lead after three innings and never looked back. Tyler Candelaria tripled in a run in the first and later scored in the frame. Josh Simmons struck out six and walked none over six innings of work for the win. Simmons allowed four runs on five hits. Pete Smith struck out the side and hurled a scoreless inning of relief. John Stocum went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored for Schroeder. Candelaria had two hits in four at bats with two RBI and run scored. Shane Marshall doubled, scored a run and drove in another. The Warriors stole five bases. Irondequoit’s Nick Serce was 1-for-3 with a three-run home run. Shane Constantino allowed one run on four hits over three innings of relief work. Webster Schroeder finished undefeated in Monroe County Division-2 play.

Brockport 6 Pittsford Mendon 5
James Atkins went 2-for-3 and led a three-run fifth inning with a single. Ashton Scott drove in two including the go-ahead on a sacrifice fly to cap the frame. Quinlan Ignaszak struck out six over 6.1 innings of work for the win. Gordon Fisher came on in relief with two on and one out in the seventh and induced a ground ball for a double play to end the game. Ignaszak was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Mendon’s Jared Petrichick finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI. George Gines was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and run scored.
Hilton 6 Gates-Chili 1
Morgan Kunigan, Kyle Pellechia and Ryan Schmitt all collected two hits apiece for Hilton. David Stirpe scored two runs for the Cadets.
Rush-Henrietta 7 Victor 2
Mitch Hoffower picked up the win. Steve Hendrick connected on a grand slam in the third to lead the Royal Comets.
Eastridge 9 Greece Olympia 4 (game 1)
Brady Crombach finished 1-for-2 with a triple and three RBI to lead Eastridge. Justin Derleth was 3-for-4 with two runs for the Lancers, and Ryan Derleth went 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Dillon Mackey allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits for the win. Olympia’s Johnny Carson had two hits and two RBI.
Eastridge 16 Greece Olympia 5 (game 2)
Javion Baker went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored to lead Eastridge. Justin Derleth doubled, drove in two and scored a run. Brendan O’Kane added two RBI. Crombach was 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBI and two runs scored. Ryan Bubel finished 2-for-2 with a walk, RBI and run scored for Olympia.
McQuaid 6 Aquinas 0
In the completion of suspended game from Thursday May 4th, Kevin Sheppard struck out five and walked two over six innings of 2-hit ball. Richie Gleason retired the side in order in the seventh. Tyler Griggs finished 3-for-4 with an RBI. Billy Kehrig doubled, drove in two and scored another. AJ Fina was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Gananda 5 Sodus 1
Tim McClare threw a complete game 3-hitter with eight strike outs to earn the win. Jourdan Plaisted drove in Jayden Castrechini and McClare in the top of the third to give Gananda the lead. Drew Miale plated McClare and Cody Hill in the fifth with a double and advanced to third on an error. Zach Ciprich followed with a sacrifice fly to complete the scoring for Gananda.
Dan Johnson, Alex Savory and Maliek Burton each had a hit for Sodus. Alex Savory started the game for Sodus and went four innings allowing two hits and striking out seven.
