East 8 Lyons 3
Eric Maldonado finished 3-for-4 with a double, triple and four RBI while hurling two scoreless as East improved to 6-0 on the season. Maldonado’s two-out bases clearing triple in the second spotted East a 5-1 advantage. Joel Alicea struck out eight over five innings for the win. Jordi Agosto connected on a two-run inside-the-park home run in the fifth. Brenden Bentel led Lyons going 4-for-4 at the plate. Donnie Kemp had a two-run single in the third to pull Lyons within two at 5-3. East will play Waterloo in Wednesday’s championship game. A 2 pm first pitch is scheduled. Lyons will play Greece Olympia in the consolation match. An 11 am start is slated.
Waterloo 13 Greece Olympia 4
Greg Hoke struck out 10 over five innings for the win. Hoke capped a six-run fifth with a two-out, two run single as Waterloo took a commanding 11-2 lead. Waterloo scored five in the first. CJ Stevens came out of the bullpen for Waterloo and struck out the side in order in the sixth.
Spencerport 7 Mynderse 2 (Lake Buena Vista, Fla.)
Joseph Carroll sparked a four-run fourth with a single. Christopher Carroll and Steven Holko followed with base hits while Joe Moshetierri and Jacob Hueber both had their first varsity hits at Champion Stadium in the ESPN Zone at World Disney World.
Joshua Brase earned his first win for the Rangers allowing two runs on five hits over 5.1 innings. Brase struck out seven and threw 20 first-pitch strikes on the day. Jeremy Howe, of Mynderse Academy, took the loss.
Webster Thomas 6 Gates-Chili 3
Ryan Carragher highlighted a three-run first with a two-run single. Ryan Hill led off with a walk then stole second and third and scored on Damian Wright’s single. Tyler Carpenter tied the game for Gates with a bases-clearing double in the third. Devin Mulcahy connected on the go-ahead, two-out two-run single in the fifth. The Titans tacked on a run in the seventh when Ben Hufland hit a sacrifice fly to score Damian Wright. Hufland started and pitched five innings for the win. He struck out five and allowed four hits. Mulcahy fanned four over two shutout innings for the save. The sophomore did not allow a hit. Mulcahy finished 2-for-3 with two RBI. Wright was 2-for-4 with three runs, two stolen bases and an RBI. Hill was 2-for-2 with two walks, two runs and two stolen bases.
Fairport 3 Start HS (Toledo, OH) 2 (8 innings) at Myrtle Beach
Evan Newkirk went 3-for-3 on the day, and Noah Gerlach brought home Mike Sabatine from third with the walk-off winning run with a fielder’s choice. Tyler Smith: struck out seven over seven and allowed two runs (zero earned). Jackson Sullivan fanned one over one inning of work for the win.
Canandaigua 7 Summit Country Day (Ohio) 0
Tanner Cooper and Brian Hoffman combined on a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts to lead the Braves. Cooper Crunick had two hits, a double and an RBI.
Brighton 9 South Charleston 6
DJ Staszak led the Barons going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored. Jack Falter was 2-for-4 with a home run and a triple. Trent Wasserman earned the win striking out five over five innings. Brighton (4-1) plays at Scott High School tomorrow at noon.
Pittsford Sutherland 8 Elizabeth (NJ) 7
Sophomore Connor Fitzsimmons scored sophomore John Messina with a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth inning. Senior Matt Wang picked up the win in relief. Junior Graham Schild pitched six-plus innings giving up three runs. Senior Nate Richardson went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Sutherland improved to 2-1.
Rush-Henrietta 7 Honeoye Falls-Lima 4
Rush-Henrietta scored six runs in the top of the seventh to come back from a 4-1 deficit. Mitchell Hoffower got the complete-game win striking out eight. Hoffower also gave R-H the lead with a two-run double in the seventh. RH is now 4-0, 2-0. HF-L’s Max Davis hit a two-run home run in the first.
Sodus 11 Penn Yan 0
Jared Wren struck out eight over 5 I hitless innings for Sodus. Alex Savory finished 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Daniel Johnson was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Chris Sergeant had two hits in two trips at bats with two RBI.
Pigeon Forge (TN) 4 Brockport 2 (13 innings)
Samuel Velletri was 3-for-7 with a double for Brockport. Dominic Frosini hurled five shutout innings in relief. Frosini struck out three, walked two and allowed four hits.
Lenape (NJ) 2 Victor 0 (Cal Ripken Experience at Myrtle Beach SC)
Victor falls to 2-2. The Blue Devils play St. Edwards (OH) Wednesday at 3pm.
Vero Beach (Fla.) 7 McQuaid 2
Nick Tomei finished 2-for-3 with a run scored. Ben Beauchamp doubled and scored. McQuaid is 6-3 on the season.
