Webster Thomas 18 Gates-Chili 7
Ryan Carragher gave Webster Thomas its first lead of the day with a two-run single in the fourth, and the Titans went on to score 11 runs in the frame. Devin Mulcahy and Austin Boehlert drove in a run apiece with singles. Trailing 7-2 to start the inning, Ryan Mason eventually cut the lead to one with a two-run single of his own, and Damian Wright knotted the game at seven with a run-scoring base rap.
Carragher and Boehlert sparked a five-run fifth, and the Titans put the game out of reach. Ben Hufland and Joe Paul added RBI singles in the frame.
Jim Marasco hurled three shutout innings in relief to pick up the win. The sophomore right-hander surrendered two hits.
Boehlert finished the day 3-for-3 with three RBI and four runs scored. Carragher was 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. Mason added two hits in five trips to the plate with two RBI and two runs scored. Paul was 2-for-2 with two RBI. Wright chipped in two hits with an RBI and a run. Ryan Hill had a two-run inside-the-park home run in the third.
Gates-Chili jumped to 6-0 lead in the second.
Thomas improved to 3-0.
The Titans will do battle with cross-town rival, Webster Schroeder on Monday. A 4:30 pm first pitch is scheduled at Basket Road Field.
Webster Schroeder 9 Pittsford Mendon 3
Tommy Baxter and Phil Ferranti delivered back-to-back two-run doubles in a five-run sixth inning, and Webster Schroeder improved to 3-0 on the season. Baxter finished 3-for-4 on the day with three RBI and scored on Ferranti’s two-bagger. Caleb Punter capped the inning with a run-scoring single.
Shane Marshall scored four runs on the day including the eventual game winner. Marshall led the fifth with a triple to center and scored one out later on Ferranti’s base hit to left field. The Warriors led 4-3.
Josh Simons started and allowed two runs on two hits over 2.2 innings for Schroeder. Connor Bisallon allowed one unearned run on hit over 2.1 innings of relief. The senior struck out two and tossed 20 strikes over 28 pitches. Marshall hurled a perfect seventh throwing six of eight pitches for strikes.
Marshall, Baxter and Ferranti went a combined 7-for-11 with seven runs scored and six RBI at the top of the Schroeder order. Winn worked two base on balls.
Jack Fiorille finished 2-for-4 with an RBI for Mendon. Nick Halstead and Kyle Wallman added run-scoring singles for the Vikings. Wallman scored a run. Halstead worked a base on balls. Sam Cestra walked twice and scored a run. Billy Dalton also scored a run.
Schroeder will play Webster Thomas on Monday at Basket Road Field. A 4:30 pm start is scheduled.
Mendon will host Canandaigua on Monday. A 4:30 first pitch is also scheduled.
Canandaigua 11 Hilton 2
Jordie Johnstone finished 2-for-3 with two doubles including a lead off two-bagger to spark a four-run third as Canandaigua ran its record to 3-0 in the early part of the season. Tanner Cooper delivered the big blow in the decisive inning with a bases-clearing double.
Matt Caraby allowed one run on one hit over four innings for the win. The senior struck out one and walked one. Mike Sculli came out of the bullpen and allowed one run over two innings. Johnstone hurled a scoreless seventh striking out two, walking one and allowing one hit.
Caraby went 2-for-3 with a walk and four RBI. Cooper finished 1-for-2 with two walks, four RBI and two runs scored. Brian Hoffman was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored. Connor Fisher singled, walked, drove in a run and scored once. Hayden Roeder singled and scored.
Hilton’s Kyle Peters singled, walked and drove in a run. Justin Devos singled and scored.
Canandaigua travels to Pittsford Mendon for a 4:30 first pitch on Monday.
Hilton hosts Rush-Henrietta for another 4:30 pm start on Monday.
