Section V Roundup: Nelson’s walkoff, Mulhall’s gem and Hoffman has a day

Webster Thomas 9 Churchville-Chili 5
Devin Mulcahy allowed one run on two hits over three innings of work out of the bullpen, and Webster-Thomas held off Churchville-Chili in Monroe County Division 2 action at Basket Road Field. READ MORE. 

Webster Schroeder 12 Spencerport 0
Ben Mulhall hurled five shutout innings, and Shane Marshall paced a 10-hit Schroeder attack. READ MORE. 

Brighton 3 Greece Athena 2 (8 innings)
Isaac Nelson capped a late-inning rally with a walk-off single in the eighth. Nelson plated Owen Davis from third, and the Barons won the opener for both teams. Andrew Cook came home on a fielder’s choice to knot the game in the seventh setting up Nelson’s heroics. Nelson finished 3-for-4 on the day with a run scored to go with the game-winning RBI. Davis was 1-for-3. Lucas Dorsey was 1-1 in the game. Jack Falter earned the win pitching a scoreless 8th.  Athena’s Jagger Nucci was 1-for-2 with a run scored. James Sciortino doubled and scored for the Trojans.

Canandaigua 5 Brockport 1
Brian Hoffman went 3-for-4, capped a two-run first with a two-out RBI single, and Canandaigua never trailed. Michael Sculli and Tanner Cooper worked base on balls, and Sculli got the Braves on the board when he came home on a double steal. Hoffman allowed one run on seven hits to pick up the win. The senior right-hander struck out two and walked one. Seth Vigneri finished 1-for-3 with two RBI. Carter Moore doubled and walked in four trips to the plate for the Braves. Brockport’s Michael Jamele and Cole Penders both went 2-for-4. Samuel Velletri was 1-for-3 with the Blue Devils lone RBI.
Midlakes 2 Williamson 1
Ezra Maslyn allowed one run on five hits over a complete game to pick up the win. Muslin fanned eight and walked one as the Screaming Eagles improved to 2-1 (1-0 league) on the season. Jordan Maher went 2-for-3 on the day and scored the tying run in the fifth on Austin Avanzato’s double. Mike Deckert drove in Avanzato with the eventual game-winning run. Williamson’s Ryan VandeMortel was 2-for-3 with a double and scored Williamson’s only run. Ryan Price drove in the Marauders only run with a single. Price allowed two runs on five hits over four and a third. He set down four on strikes and walked three. Williamson Record is 0-1.
Clyde-Savannah 6 Lyons 0
Jaret Murray scattered three singles over six scoreless innings and struck out nine.  Dylan Ufholz went 2-for-3 with an RBI.  Ray Williams had two hits and threw out a runner at home from right field to preserve the shutout.  Casey Lead went 2-for-3 for Lyons.
Livonia 2 Bath 0
Reid VanScoter picked up the win for the Bulldogs (2-0).
