Three former Section Five players to try on dancing shoes

Emmitt Holt (Webster-Schroeder) and the Providence Friars will tip off Wednesday against the USC Trojans in the NCAA Tournament’s First Four. Anthony Lamb (Greece Athena) and Vermont take the court on Thursday while Deyshonee Much (Gates-Chili) and Iona get their chance on Friday as Section Five will be well represented in the NCAA’s biggest event.

Holt and Providence (20-12) will look to advance and play No. 6-seed SMU in the first round of the East Region. Holt has scored 12.4 points and grabbed 5.2 rebounds for the Friars. Providence and USC will tip off at 9:10 pm Wednesday night. TruTV will televise the game.

Lamb and the No.13-seed Catamounts (29-5) will do battle with Purdue (25-7) in the Midwest Region’s first round. Lamb scored 12 points and corralled 10 rebounds as Vermont beat University of Albany in the America East championship on Saturday. TruTV will televise the 7:27 pm tip off.

Much and Iona (22-12) beat Siena in the MAAC final and will make their second straight NCAA tournament appearance. The No. 14-seed Gaels will tip off against No. 3-seed Oregon at 2 pm on Friday. TBS will televise the game. Much averaged 9.3 points in 26 games for Iona this season.
