NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Davidson junior Peyton Aldridge and Richmond senior T.J. Cline were selected as the Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week while Richmond freshman De’Monte Buckingham was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, announced Monday and presented by Come Ready Nutrition, are for games played Jan. 9-15.
Aldridge finished the week averaging 21 points, 10 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game, while shooting 46.4 percent (13-of-28) from the floor and 80 percent (12-for-15) at the line. After an 18-point, eight-rebound performance against Fordham on Wednesday, Aldridge came up big in Davidson’s upset win over VCU. The forward from Leavittsburg, Ohio, recorded his third double-double of the season with 24 points and 12 rebounds to go along with three steals. He also went 9-of-17 (.529) from the floor, hit two 3-pointers and made 4-of-5 free throws.
Cline led the Spiders to a 2-0 week and nearly tallied a triple-double at Saint Joseph’s with 15 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. In a win against St. Bonaventure, he scored 17 points, all in the second half, dished out five assists and shot 70 percent from the field. A forward/center from Plano, Texas, Cline recorded 16.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game while shooting 61.9 percent from the field.
Buckingham tallied a career-high 13 rebounds en route to his first career double-double in a win over St. Bonaventure on Wednesday night. The guard from Richmond, Va., scored 18 points with 13 rebounds, two assists, three steals and one incredible block that reached No. 6 on SportsCenter Top 10. Buckingham then added 12 points and seven boards in a win at Saint Joseph’s. He finished the week averaging 15 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 41.7 percent from three.

Xeurius Williams scored 18 points at Duquesne and grabbed 10 rebounds at UMass while shooting .571 (8-of-14) for the week for Dayton … Duquesne freshman Mike Lewis II averaged 16 points, shooting 55 percent (11-of-20) from the field with 2.5 assists per game … Marquise Moore had back-to-back double-doubles, with 24 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists at Saint Joseph’s and 13 points, 16 rebounds and five assists versus Saint Louis … La Salle’s Jordan Price scored 23 points with seven rebounds and five assists in a win over George Washington, shooting an incredible 81.8 percent (9-for-11) from the field, including 4-of-5 (.800) from 3-point range … Massachusetts’ Rashaan Holloway averaged 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game in a win over A-10 preseason favorite Dayton and a narrow loss at Rhode Island … UMass freshman point guard DeJon Jarreau finished the week with averages of 14.0 points, 7.5 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game … E.C. Matthews had 22 points for Rhode Island in a win over Massachusetts, shooting an impressive 71.4 percent (10-of-14) from the field against the Minutemen … Rhode island freshman Jeff Dowtin was consistent last week, scoring 11 points in each of the Rams’ games … St. Bonaventure’s Matt Mobley averaged 21 points, five rebounds and three assists per game, including a 25-point performance on 7-of-11 (.636) shooting against Fordham … Bonaventure freshman Josh Ayeni scored 16 points, shooting 12-of-13 (.923) from this line against Fordham … Reggie Agbeko was 13-for-19 (.684) for the week from the field, scoring 18 points with eight rebounds at Duquesne and 12 points and nine rebounds at George Mason … SLU freshman Jalen Johnson had a 17-point, 10-rebounds double-double in the Billikens’ road win at George Mason.
