BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — Tennessee State men’s basketball guard Tahjere McCall (Philadelphia, Pa.) was honored for his performances this week by earning adidas Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday by the league office.
The redshirt senior eclipsed 1,000 career points in TSU’s victory over UT Martin on Jan. 7 and averaged 23.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game during the week.
He put up 25 points with five steals and three assists versus Kennesaw State in the first game of the week. McCall then followed up with a season-high 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting with eight rebounds, four assists and three steals in a win over Southeast Missouri.
In TSU’s final game of the week, McCall turned in a complete game with 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting. He tied a career high with eight assists to go with seven rebounds and four steals.
It is the third time McCall has been recognized by the OVC during his career with a weekly award. He earned OVC Player of the Week earlier this season on Nov. 14 and was honored as OVC Newcomer of the Week once last season.
The Tigers, who are 11-5 overall and 2-1 in the OVC, will head to Richmond, Ky. to take on Eastern Kentucky on Jan. 12, at 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. CT) in an American Sports Network broadcast.
