NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Davidson junior Peyton Aldridge and George Mason senior Marquise Moore were chosen as the Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week. Freshman Jon Axel Gudmundsson of Davidson and Isiaha Mike from Duquesne were selected as the league’s Co-Rookies of the Week. The awards, announced Monday and presented by Come Ready Nutrition, are for games played Dec. 19-25.
In addition to scoring his 1,000th career point, Aldridge scored a game-high 29 points on 11-of-15 (.733) shooting, including 2-of-2 from 3-point range and 5-of-5 at the charity stripe against Jacksonville. The forward from Leavittsburg, Ohio, added nine rebounds and five assists in the victory, Davidson’s second straight win.
Moore posted 20 points and career highs in rebounds (17) and blocks (4) during Mason’s victory over Prairie View A&M. He made 7-of-13 (.538) field goals and dished out three assists. The performance marked Moore’s eighth double-double in 13 games this season. He is the only guard in the country and one of only eight players total with eight or more double-doubles this year. It’s the second A-10 Player of the Week award this season for the Queens, N.Y. native.
Gudmundsson turned in a solid all-around performance in Davidson’s win over Jacksonville. The guard from Grindavik, Iceland, finished with 10 points, hitting 4-of-8 (.500) from the field while adding six rebounds, seven assists and two steals in the Wildcats’ only game of the week.
Mike averaged 15.5 points, five rebounds and three assists in Duquesne’s wins over Jackson State and Colgate. The forward from Scarborough, Ontario, had 12 points, seven rebounds and a career-high five assists versus JSU. He followed that with a career-high 19 points in against Colgate. Mike, who earned his second A-10 Rookie of the Week award, shot 50 percent from the field (9-18) and 10-12 (.833) from the foul line in the two games.

Charles Cooke scored 19 points, and pulled down seven rebounds and four assists for Dayton in the Flyers’ win over Vanderbilt, including hitting 9-of-10 (.900) from the line … Duquesne’s Tarin Smith averaged 18.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.5 rebounds in two wins for the Dukes, tallying 22 points and six rebounds against Jackson State … Jordan Price scored 26 points, had nine rebounds and six assists in La Salle’s overtime win on the road at Mercer … Donte Clark shot 9-of-16 from the field and 8-for-11 at the line, tallying 27 points, eight rebounds, two steals and four assists in Massachusetts’ win against Rider … E.C. Matthews scored 23 points, had nine rebounds and a pair of assists in Rhode Island’s win over William & Mary … Rhody freshman Cyril Langevine grabbed 17 rebounds, including seven on the offensive end against the Tribe.
