NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Richmond senior T.J. Cline and VCU senior JeQuan Lewis were named Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week. Duquesne freshman Mike Lewis II was selected as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, announced Monday and presented by Come Ready Nutrition, are for games played Nov. 21-27.
Cline put together a spectacular week, averaging 19.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game as the Spiders went 2-1 and lost to No. 23 Maryland in overtime. A forward from Plano, Texas, Cline nearly had a triple-double (18 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists) against the Terps and hit a last second shot that forced the overtime period. Against Boston College, he had his second career double-double to lead Richmond to victory. He was named to the Barclays Center Classic All-Tournament team.
JeQuan Lewis averaged 18.3 points, 5.3 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals, while shooting .500 from the field, and led the Rams to a 2-1 record at the Battle 4 Atlantis. A guard from Dickson, Tenn., he scored 21 points and handed out five assists in 71-63 loss to eventual tournament champion No. 20 Baylor. He added 15 points and 19 points in wins over St. John’s and LSU, respectively. His effort against LSU included the 1,000th point of his career. He is the 36th VCU player to reach 1,000.
Mike Lewis II averaged 11.0 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game and shot .529 from the field in two games last week. A guard from St. Louis, Mo., he set career highs for points (20), rebounds (5) and steals (2) in the Dukes’ 78-71 win over Cleveland State. He went 8-of-13 from the field (2-of-4 from 3-point range) against the Vikings. He began the week with two points, two rebounds and two assists in limited minutes versus UT Martin.

Jordan Watkins was 7-of-9 from the field and 6-for-8 from 3-point range for 22 points in Davidson’s decisive win in the Hornets’ Nest game against Charlotte … Wildcat freshman Jon Ax Gundmundsson tallied 11 points, five rebounds and three assists in the rivalry win over the 49ers … Charles Cooke led Dayton to a 2-1 week in the Wooden Legacy Tournament, averaging 16.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals … Joseph Chartouny was in control of the ball, racking up 18 assists and 10 steals for Fordham, registering a 4.5 assist to turnover ratio … George Mason’s Marquise Moore had a monster week, averaging a double-double of 18.8 points and 10.5 rebounds, while also recording 3.0 assists per game in a 3-1 week for the Patriots … Mason freshman Justin Kier averaged 7.3 points and 6.5 rebounds, including a career-high 10 boards against Bradley … La Salle’s Cleon Roberts went 6-for-12 from the field and a nearly perfect 6-for-7 from beyond the arc to score 22 points and lead the Explorers to a win at City 6 rival Drexel … UMass’ Donte Clark scored 29 points, including an impressive 13-of-14 at the line and back-to-back triples to rally the Minutemen past Harvard … Hassan Martin had a monstrous 31-point performance in a win over Belmont, shooting 70 percent from the floor with five rebounds, three blocks and two steals … Richmond freshman De’Monte Buckingham had 17 points, 20 rebounds, five assists, four blocks and four steals in the Spiders’ 2-1 week … Matt Mobley averaged 22.3 points on nine made 3-pointers with 11 assists to lead St. Bonaventure to a 2-1 week … Saint Joseph’s Shavar Newkirk scored 23 points, had six rebounds and five assists against NC State … SJU freshman Charlie Brown tallied 14 points and had five rebounds and three steals for the Hawks … Saint Louis’ Jermaine Bishop scored a career-high 27 points against BYU and was 11-of-23 from the field and 4-of-9 from the arc.
