CINCINNATI – Junior Trevon Bluiett was named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week. Bluiett scored 17.0 ppg., 4.8 rpg., 2.0 apg. and 0.5 spg. for the four XU games this past week. Bluiett was named MVP of the Tire Pros Invitational for his efforts in those three wins, while passing the 1,000 point mark for his career during a 21-point effort in Xavier’s championship game win over Northern Iowa on Sunday.
Junior J.P. Macura was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll this week after averaging a team-high 18.8 points per game for four Xavier wins, while adding 3.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Macura connected for a career-high 28 points in the win over Clemson on Friday in the Tire Pros Invitational on a career-high six three-pointers. Macura helped Xavier win three games in Orlando to capture the Tire Pros Invitational, while earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Xavier, 5-0, has now won an elite regular season tournament four times in the last 10 years, including two years in a row. XU won the Advocare Invitational in Orlando last year.
The Musketeers host Northern Iowa on Saturday at noon in a rematch of the Tire Pros Invitational Championship Game.
