ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The dream of playing professionally for St. Bonaventure University men’s basketball product Marcus Posley will continue after Posley heard his name called in the second round of Sunday’s NBA Development League Draft.
Posley was selected in 44th overall by the Sioux Falls Skyforce during Sunday’s six round draft.
The Skyforce are an affiliate of the Miami Heat, one of 22 teams in the NBADL. The team is slated to begin its schedule on Nov. 12. Sioux Falls won the league championship last season.
The second-leading scorer in the Atlantic 10 at 19.6 points per game last season, Posley had 19 games of 17 or more points including five 30-point games for the Bonnies. Perhaps his most memorable moment came last March when Posley made national headlines with a 47-point outburst in a March win over Saint Joseph’s. He made 82 three-pointers to rank sixth in the A-10 in three-pointers per game (2.6). Posley, who was named to the A-10’s All-Conference second team, also averaged 3.6 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
The Rockford, Ill., native scored 1,126 points over just two seasons with the Bonnies. He was a third team all-conference choice in 2014-15 after he averaged 16.7 points per game.
Posley’s selection means both of the Bonnies’ 2016 graduates have reached the professional ranks. Dion Wright is playing for the Sendai 89ers in Japan.
