Semi-Finals Preview: Section V Class D1 Boys Soccer

No. 1 Naples (16-0-1/11-0-1 Finger Lakes West) vs. No. 5 Fillmore (14-4/7-2 Allegany – Division 1)

How they got here: Naples outlasted No. 9 Wheatland-Chili in overtime, 2-1. Fillmore opened sectional play with a 7-0 victory over No. 12. Hammond sport before knocking off No. 4 Genesee Valley, 2-1 to advance to the semis.

Naples has allowed three goals over its last six games (all wins).  Fillmore has won three straight.

Names to know: Naples – Felipe Gonzalez (23 goals, 13 assists), Zach Dormer (18 goals, 9 assists) and Jacob Chapman (68 saves, 1,301 mins. played, 0.615 GAA).

Fillmore – Tevrett Covedill (22 goals, 11 assists), JJ Miller (12 goals, 7 assists), Keaton Speicher (5 goals, 5 assists) and Trevor Clark (57 saves, 1,130 mins. played, 0.779 GAA).

No. 2 Alfred-Almond (14-1-2/7-0-1 Steuben – D1) vs. No. 3 Mount Morris (15-3/5-3 Livingston D3)

How they got here: Alfred-Almond defeated No. 7 Jasper-Troupsburg, 3-0. Mount Morris opened with a 12-0 romp of No. 14 Vertus. Mount Morris defeated HAC 3-1 in the quarter-final round.

Alfred-Almond has won three straight. Mount Morris has won four in a row.
