Semi-Finals Preview: Section V Class A2 Boys Soccer

No. 1 Honeoye Falls-Lima (13-3-1/8-0 Monroe County D4) vs. No. 4 Eastridge (10-7/5-3 Monroe County D4)

How they got here: HF-L defeated No. 9 Aquinas, 2-0. Eastridge beat No. 5 Greece Olympia, 1-0.

Season series: HF-L took two from the Lancers by the counts of 3-1 and 3-0.

HF-L has won two straight and is undefeated in their last five. Eastridge won four in a row before ending the regular season with a loss.

Names to know: HF-L – Kieran Papalia (14 goals, 4 assists), Parker Hotchkiss (10 goals, 6 assists), Roth Wetzel (8 goals, 10 assists), Nico Coria (96 saves, 1,365 mins. played, 0.527 GAA, 12 clean sheets).

History 101: HF-L has won the past two A2 titles. Eastridge last reached the semis in 2014.

A 5 p.m. kickoff is scheduled at Pittsford Sutherland, Tuesday.

No. 2 Wilson Magnet (9-5/5-4 RCAC) vs. No. 3 Wayne (11-6/10-2 Finger Lakes East)

How they got here: Wilson Magnet defeated No. 7 Geneva, 1-0 in overtime. Wayne outlasted No. 6 Pittsford Sutherland, 3-2 in overtime.

This is the first meeting this season between the two teams. Both lost to World of Inquiry. Wilson Magnet defeated Greece Olympia, 2-1 while Wayne fell to the Spartans, 3-0. Wayne defeated Geneva twice this season by scores of 3-0 and 6-0.

After winning six consecutive, Wilson dropped their regular season finale. Wayne has won two straight.

Names to know: Wilson Magnet – Thakur Kharel (9 goals, 5 assists), Anoj Shama (7 goals, 4 assists), Nzeyimana Kamali (7 goals, 2 assists) and Byiringiro Kamali (6 goals, 4 assists).

History 101: Wilson is making its first semi-final appearance for boys soccer. This is Wayne’s first trip to the semis since 2009.
