As he starts his second professional season, 2015 St. Bonaventure graduate Andell Cumberbatch has signed with the Redwell Gunners Oberwart in Austria.
Redwell is the defending champion of Austria’s A Division.
A 6-5 guard from East Orange, N.J., Cumberbatch played two seasons at St. Bonaventure after two years at Barton (Kansas) Community College. He started 56 games over his two seasons and averaged 9.1 points per game. He enjoyed a strong senior year in 2014-15, averaging 10.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 36 percent from three-point range. He helped St. Bonaventure to 18 wins that season, including a 10-8 mark in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Last season, Cumberbatch played for Etha in Cypriot’s Division A. In 17 games, he was Etha’s fifth leading scorer at 16.4 points per game. He also averaged 7.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.8 steals per game. Cumberbatch helped Etha make it to the Cypriot Cup semifinals and was named to Eurobasket.com’s All-Cyprus League Honorable Mention.
Cumberbatch also spent part of the 2015-16 season with MMCITE Brno in the Czech Republic.
