COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomore cornerback Marshon Lattimore has been named the Walter Camp defensive player of the week for his efforts in No. 4 Ohio State’s 48-3 victory over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane Saturday at Ohio Stadium.
Lattimore, a third-year performer from Cleveland and Glenville High School, intercepted two passes, including a 40-yard return for a touchdown with 33 seconds left in the first half, to extend a slim, 13-3, Ohio State lead to a 20-3 halftime lead. His first interception, off a tipped pass on Tulsa’s first offensive play of the game, led to an OSU field goal. Lattimore also had three tackles on the day.
Playing in looming inclement weather that would eventually force a 50-minute delay after halftime because of lightening in the area, Lattimore and the Buckeyes did not give up a touchdown for the second consecutive week and allowed just 188 offensive yards to a team that was 13th nationally in total offense last year.
Ohio State takes on Oklahoma, a 59-17 victor over Louisiana Monroe, Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in Norman, Okla. FOX Sports will broadcast.
