ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure University senior Connor Grey has earned Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week honors, conference officials announced Monday.
Grey received the accolades after a stellar performance this past Friday when he struck out a career-high 15 batters in 7.1 shutout innings at Saint Joseph’s. In his final collegiate start, the Frewsburg native allowed just three singles and two walks to lead a 2-0 Bonnies victory over a Saint Joseph’s club that ranks among the A-10 leaders in most offensive categories.
He struck out at least one batter in every inning except for the fifth and opened the eighth with his 15th punch out of the afternoon. This was his third game this season of 10 or more strikeouts, all coming in Atlantic 10 play.
Grey set the program record for strikeouts in a season with 95, and also moved into fifth place in program history with 201 strikeouts. Grey’s 95 season strikeouts also rank second in the Atlantic 10 this season while his 15-strikeout showing matched the season high for any A-10 pitcher.
For the season, Grey finished 3-6 with a 2.84 ERA in 92.0 innings of work and limited opponents to a .206 batting average against him, a mark that also stands second in the A-10.
