ST. LOUIS – D.J. Foreman, a transfer from Rutgers University, will play his final two seasons at Saint Louis University, SLU head coach Travis Ford announced today.
Per NCAA transfer regulations, Foreman will sit out next season and will be eligible to compete for the Billikens in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
“We are very excited about D.J. joining our program,” Ford said. “He brings us great experience playing at a high level. D.J. will bring us a physical presence and is a player who has a high level of skill. I look forward to him continuing to improve next season while he is sitting out. When D.J. takes the court, he will make an immediate impact not only on our team, but also in the Atlantic 10 Conference.”
A 6-foot-8 forward from Spring Valley, N.Y., Foreman appeared in 64 games (25 starts) in two seasons for the Scarlet Knights. He averaged 5.9 ppg and 4.3 rpg at Rutgers, where current SLU assistant coach Van Macon was an assistant.
Last season, Foreman started 23 games and led Rutgers with 6.0 rpg while scoring nearly 8.0 ppg. Among his top games were a career-high 12-rebound outing against Michigan State and 13-point games against Purdue and Ohio State.
Previously, Foreman attended Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Va., where he averaged 16.0 ppg and 7.0 rpg his final season in 2013-14. According to ESPN Recruiting, he was the 37th-rated forward in the class of 2014 and the No. 7 player in the state of New York.
Foreman (given name is Dwayne) is the third newcomer to the roster, joining Jalen Johnson (Baton Rouge, La.) and Zeke Moore (St. Louis, Mo.).
