Behind the strong pitching on Senior RHP Alec Vaules, the Sutherland Knights defeated the Batavia Blue Devils 2-0 at Sargent Field in Pittsford. Vaules threw a complete game 5-hit shutout with eight strike outs for his fourth win of the season. He stranded five runners in scoring position in the early going but retired 9 straight to end the game.
Sutherland’s offense was led by Vaules who went 2-for-2 with a walk. The Knights squeezed across their only two runs when Nate Richardson singled in the home half of the first, stole second, advanced on Vaules’ single and scored on a Michael Ryan sacrifice fly to centerfield. It stayed 1-0 until the sixth when Sutherland used a Will Marsh single, walk to Vaules and a Ryan bunt single to load the bases. A wild pitch plated Marsh to make the final 2-0.
Sutherland is now 10-5 and hosts Brighton for a 4:30 start at Sargent Field tomorrow.

Nick Jackson pitched a complete game with four strike outs. The senior RHP gave up four hits. Mike Ruta had a lead-off single in top of the fifth. Dom DiStefano moved the runner with a bunt. Justin Bunting walked, and Trevor Layne doubled home Ruta. Bunting and Layne both scored later on passed balls. The Trojans played good defense and turned two double plays in the game.
BRIGHTON 2 EASTRIDGE 0
Cross Bauer allowed just two runs on Tuesday, but the Eastridge Lancers couldn’t get the offense going in a 2-0 loss to Brighton. Bauer struck out two and allowed two hits during his seven innings of work. Brighton took the lead in the second.

Aidan Eldridge plated the go-ahead run in the sixth inning, as the Rangers hung on to beat Victor. Jarod Barnard notched his first varsity win surrendering two runs over six innings. He fanned one, walked two and allowed four hits.
Aaron Schlarbaum and Tommy Ryan got Victor on the board with RBI singles.
