BETHESDA, Md. – Xavier baseball head coach Scott Googins claimed the school’s all-time wins record on Friday, guiding the Musketeers to an 8-5, come-from-behind win over Georgetown at Shirley Povich Field.

Xavier improves to 13-22 (1-0 BIG EAST) overall with the win, while the Hoyas dropped to 15-20 (1-3 BIG EAST).
Googins, in his 11th season, moves past former XU skipper John Morrey (1993-2004) who compiled 287 wins over a 12-year career.

XU AT THE PLATE
· Nate Soria led the Musketeers with a 2-for-4 day, lacing a pair of singles to go with a run scored and an RBI. Soria has now scored in five straight games and is 7-for-11 (.636) over his last three games.
· Will LaRue (1-for-4, R), Dan Rizzie (1-for-5, RBI), Joe Gellenbeck (1-for-4, 2 R, RBI), Chris Givin (1-for-4, R, RBI) and Andre Jernigan (1-for-3, 3 RBI) also had hits for Xavier.
· Jernigan now leads the team with seven multiple RBI performances this season.
· Xavier stole four bases in the game, getting two steals from Ethan Schmidt and one apiece from Joe Gellenbeck and Chris Givin.
· Rylan Bannon reached on an error in the eighth, but saw a 13-game reached base streak come to an end.
· The eight runs were tied for the fifth-most scored by XU this season.

XU ON THE MOUND
· Zac Lowther got the start and lasted 5.1 innings, striking out six and giving up four earned runs in a no decision.
· Trey Schramm made his team-leading 14th appearance in relief, tossing 2.2 innings of scoreless relief with one strikeout. The freshman righty has now gone three appearances and 7.2 innings without allowing a run.
· Garrett Schilling worked around a hit in the ninth, getting a double play ball to end the game. The sophomore righty struck out one and posted his sixth save of the season, lowering his ERA to 1.42 in 19 innings of work. Schilling hasn’t allowed an earned run in his last 15 innings.
HOW THE MUSKETEERS SCORED
THIRD INNING (GU leads 2-1): Ethan Schmidt walked with one out, stealing both second and third base before coming around to score on a sacrifice fly by Matt Fallon.
FIFTH INNING (Tied 2-2): Nate Soria singled with one out, advancing from first to third on an error by the catcher. Andre Jernigan brought him home with a game-tying sacrifice fly to center field.
FIFTH INNING (GU leads 5-4): Joe Gellenbeck was hit by a pitch to start off the inning, advancing on a fielder’s choice by way of an error by the shortstop. With two on and one out, Andre Jernigan doubled to left center to plate both Gellenbeck and Chris Givin.
EIGHTH INNING (XU leads 7-5): Rylan Bannon led off the inning and reached on an error before trotting to second when Will LaRue was hit by a pitch. With one out, Joe Gellenbeck singled to right to score Bannon and tie the game at 5-5. Chris Givin then singled to left to give XU a one-run lead. After a double steal, Gellenbeck came around on a single by Nate Soria to make it 7-5.
