St. Bonaventure senior guard Marcus Posley has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week for the period ending March 6, the A-10 announced. He shares the award with Dayton’s Scoochie Smith.
Over two Bonnies wins last week, Posley averaged 32.6 points per game. March 2 in Rochester, N.Y., he had the top scoring game in Division I this year, pouring in 47 points in a win over Saint Joseph’s. The Rockford, Ill., native was 15-of-19 (.780) from the field against the Hawks, including an incredible 6-for-7 from three-point range. He was also 11-of-12 at the free throw line. The 47 points tied the fourth most in a single game in A-10 history. Posley then scored 18 points at Saint Louis on 5-for-10 (.500) from the field and 6-of-7 (.850) at the line. He also had four assists and two steals on the regular season finale.
Posley’s efforts helped lead the Bonnies (22-7) to their first-ever A-10 regular season title, which is shared with Dayton and VCU. St. Bonaventure went 14-4 in conference games, a program record for A-10 wins.
For the season, Posley leads St. Bonaventure and ranks second in the Atlantic 10 in scoring at 19.3 points per game. He also is 12th in the A-10 in assists (3.6 per game) and eighth in three-pointers per game (2.6).
St. Bonaventure is the No. 3 seed in this week’s A-10 Championship at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The Bonnies will play Friday at 9 p.m. against either Davidson, Duquesne or La Salle.
