St. Bonaventure sophomore guard Jaylen Adams has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 7, the A-10 announced Monday.
Adams led the Bonnies to a pair of A-10 wins last week. Over the two games, he averaged 25.0 points, 5.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds. He was 15-30 (.500) from the field including 9-19 (.474) from three-point range. Adams also made 11 of 12 free throws.
In the Bonnies’ 83-73 win at Saint Joseph’s Feb. 3, Adams scored a career-high 31 points – 19 in the second half – and handed out seven assists. He made six of 12 shots from three-point range as St. Bonaventure topped the Hawks, who entered the game 18-3 and 29th in the Ratings Percentage Index.
Adams then hit the game-winning three-pointer Sunday afternoon to give the Bonnies a 65-62 decision over Saint Louis at the Reilly Center. His shot, which went through the net as time expired, was the No. 9 play on ESPN’s Top 10 Plays of the Day. Adams totaled 19 points with four assists, six rebounds and two blocks against the Billikens.
For the season, the Baltimore, Md., native is St. Bonaventure’s second-leading scorer at 18.5 points per game. He leads the Bonnies in assists (100), three-point field goals (57), and free throws (109). Adams ranks seventh in the A-10 in scoring, second in assists (5.0 per game), third in free throw percentage (.879) and third in three-point field goal percentage (.445).
St. Bonaventure, which has won three straight games, is 15-6 overall and 7-3 in the Atlantic 10. The Bonnies are tied with George Washington for fourth place in the A-10. St. Bonaventure’s next game is at Fordham on Wednesday at 7:00.
