CINCINNATI — Xavier University senior forward James Farr has earned a spot on the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 15.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steals for Xavier’s games this past week against Georgetown on Jan. 19 and Seton Hall on Jan. 23. Farr had a monster game with a career-high 24 points, a game-high 15 rebounds, three blocks, a career-high four assists and two steals in Saturday’s win over Seton Hall.
Farr is one of six Musketeers who have been honored by the BIG EAST at least once this season, including five that have been named at least once to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll: Sophomore Trevon Bluiett (four times), junior Jalen Reynolds (twice), junior Myles Davis (twice) and seniors Remy Abell (once) and James Farr (once) have each earned the honor at least once this season. Bluiett was named the BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week on Jan. 18. In addition,freshman Edmond Sumner has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week three times, including Jan. 18.
Farr leads the team in rebounding at 9.1 rpg. (third in the BIG EAST) and is fourth in scoring at 10.8 ppg. (28th in the BIG EAST). Farr is ninth in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage (.541) and 10th in free-throw percentage (.804).
Xavier’s next game is a battle of two teams now ranked in the top 10 of both major national polls and two teams that are among four tied for second place in the BIG EAST Conference. No. 7/8 Xavier, 17-2 overall and 5-2 in the BIG EAST Conference, plays at No. 10/10 Providence, 17-3 and 5-2, on Tuesday night.
