ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis freshman guard Jermaine Bishop (Queens, N.Y.) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference men’s basketball co-Rookie of the Week, as announced today by the league office.
Bishop averaged 18 ppg in two games last week. Against Duquesne on Jan. 13, he posted a career-high 21 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field and a 9-of-10 performance from the stripe. Bishop then earned his first start Jan. 17 against George Mason and scored 15 points and dished out a career-best five assists.
For the week, he shot 10-of-14 from the field and 3-of-10 from the arc. He was 13-of-14 from the free throw line and totaled nine assists to just two turnovers.
In A-10 play, Bishop is third on the Billikens with 10.5 ppg. He averages 5.0 ppg for the season.
The Billikens (6-11, 1-4 A-10) host Davidson (11-5, 3-2 A-10) Wednesday at Chaifetz Arena. Tip time is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be televised on Fox Sports Midwest.
