St. Bonaventure sophomore guard Jaylen Adams has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 2, the A-10 announced Monday.
Over two Bonnies wins last week, Adams averaged 23.0 points, 8.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds. He was 12-22 (.545) from the field including 10-16 (.625) from three-point range. Adams also made 11 of 12 free throws and totaled two steals and three blocked shots.
In the Bonnies’ 97-85 win over Davidson Jan. 2, Adams scored a career high 30 points and added four assists. The Baltimore, Md., native scored 16 points and handed out 12 assists – the most assists by an A-10 player this season – in an 82-68 win over Niagara Dec. 30.
For the season, Adams leads St. Bonaventure in scoring at 17.5 points per game. He also leads the Bonnies in assists (56) and three-point field goals (33). Adams ranks eighth in the A-10 in scoring, second in assists and second in three-point field goal percentage (.471).
Adams’ play has helped St. Bonaventure to a 9-3 mark. The Bonnies, who are 1-0 in Atlantic 10 contests, embark on a two-game road swing this week beginning Wednesdayat George Mason at 7:00 on American Sports Network TV.
