A year ago he played in the shadow of two teammates who later heard their names called in the NBA draft. This season he has three Blue Devils for whom the question might be whether they earn lottery status or not. Despite this if Duke University defeats Wisconsin’s Badgers for the national championship, it may come down to the role of Quinn Cook.

Duke’s lone senior (in an age when playing four years in college bears a stigma) starter scores nearly 16 a game and hands out 2.7 assists, but his biggest contribution to Duke is his leadership.

The seeds to this role were sown last season a day after Duke lost to Mercer in the NCAA Tournament’s second round.

As Cook explains it took a blunt message from Coach K to get him to accept his role.
