ESTERO, Fla. – The schedule for the 2014 Gulf Coast Showcase was announced Tuesday morning, and the Marist men’s basketball team will open the tournament against host Florida Gulf Coast on Monday, Nov. 24 at 6 p.m. at Germain Arena in Southwest Florida.
Last season, Florida Gulf Coast won 22 games and advanced to the NIT. The Eagles are just two years removed from becoming the first #15 seed to reach the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament.
The Red Foxes will play three games in three consecutive days in the tournament. On Tuesday, Nov. 25, Marist will take on either San Francisco or Hawaii. The contest will take place at 8:30 p.m. if the Red Foxes defeat Florida Gulf Coast the previous day, or it will be 2:30 p.m. if Florida Gulf Coast prevails.
On Wednesday, Nov. 26, Marist will wrap up tournament play against either Green Bay, East Carolina, Fresno State or Evansville. Pending their results in the tournament’s first two days, the Red Foxes will play at either noon, 2:30 p.m., 6 p.m.or 8:30 p.m.
The tournament field includes five teams which won at least 20 games a year ago in Florida Gulf Coast, San Francisco, Fresno State, Green Bay and Hawaii. Florida Gulf Coast, San Francisco and Green Bay all advanced to the NIT, while Fresno State reached the final of the CBI and East Carolina appeared in the CIT.
Marist will open the 2014-15 season, its first under head coach Mike Maker, on Friday, Nov. 14 at Bucknell. Red Fox Club Season Tickets are available for purchase for this season by clicking here.
