WORCESTER, Mass. — Holy Cross and Syracuse University will meet in men’s basketball this season, as announced by Holy Cross director of athletics Nathan Pine. The game between the Crusaders and the Orange will be played at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse on Nov. 28, 2014.
“I am pleased to announce the addition of Syracuse to the upcoming men’s basketball schedule,” said Pine. “This game further strengthens our non-conference schedule for next season which already includes Pittsburgh and Harvard. All three of the games will be televised and viewed by national and regional audiences and we will continue to look for opportunities to extend the Holy Cross brand and showcase our outstanding student-athletes.”
The Crusaders and the Orange have played 25 times in their history, with Syracuse holding a narrow 13-12 series advantage. The last meeting between the schools came on Nov. 27, 2006, when the Orange posted a 72-64 victory at the Carrier Dome.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to challenge ourselves against an elite college basketball program,” said Holy Cross head coach Milan Brown. “Playing Syracuse will give our program national exposure and a chance to compete at a very high level. We are looking forward to the challenge.”
The complete 2014-2015 non-conference schedule for the Holy Cross men’s basketball team will be announced later this summer.
