Jerome Robinson has joined the St. Bonaventure University men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach, head coach Mark Schmidt announced.

Robinson worked at Eastern Michigan the past three years under head coach Rob Murphy. He was the Director of Player Development and Video Coordinator last season, and the Lifeskills Coordinator prior to that. Last season, the Eagles went 22-15 and reached the second round of the College Insider Tournament (CIT). The 22 wins were the most by an EMU team since 1996-97 and fourth-most in school history. Eastern Michigan led NCAA Division I in defensive field goal percentage. In addition, senior center Da’Shonte Riley was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year and junior forward Karrington Ward was named to the third team All-MAC.

Robinson was a standout player in high school, college and professionally. A native of Toronto, the 6-foot-4 guard was chosen one of the top five players in Ontario as a high school senior at Westwood Secondary School. He went on to Bradley University and developed into a first team all-Missouri Valley Conference selection as a senior in 2000-01 after averaging 17 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He also was named the MVC Defensive Player of the Year that same season. He was a two-year team captain at Bradley and graduated in 2002 with a degree in elementary education.

Robinson went on to play professionally in France, Belgium and Austria. He earned all-league honors and was named the All-Austrian Bundesliga defensive player of the year twice.

In 1999, Robinson was selected to represent his native Canada on the World University Games in Spain. He was a member of the Canandian National Team for three years.

Robinson and his wife, Beth, have three children.

Robinson replaces Jeff Massey, who accepted a similar position at Toledo after spending the last seven seasons at St. Bonaventure.
