WASHINGTON – George Washington men’s basketball alumni Isaiah Armwood (’14) and Maurice Creek (’14) – the Zeek & Creek Show duo which led the Colonials to the 2014 NCAA Tournament – will participate in an NBA pre-draft workout with the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, June 24.
Armwood, who has previously worked out for the Sacramento Kings and Denver Nuggets, and Creek will take part in Tuesday’s second session beginning at 12:00 p.m., as the Wizards will work out two groups of six professional hopefuls starting at 10:30 a.m. Washington owns the 46th overall selection in Thursday’s NBA Draft.
The Colonials’ combo will be joined by fellow Atlantic 10 alumni Halil Kanacevic of Saint Joseph’s and Devin Oliver of Dayton along with Cincinnati’s Sean Kilpatrick and Pittsburgh’s Talib Zanna in the latter of Tuesday’s two sessions. Fellow A-10 alum Chaz Williams of Massachusetts will participate in Tuesday’s opening workout.
Armwood, the 6-foot-9 forward from Baltimore whose nickname is ‘Zeek,’ capped his career as a Colonial with Second Team All-Atlantic 10 and A-10 All-Defensive Team honors, leading the team in rebounding (8.4 rpg), blocks (1.5 bpg) and minutes (32.0 mpg) and ranking second on the team in scoring (12.7 ppg).
Despite playing just two seasons at GW from 2012-14, Armwood is one of only two players in program history to amass at least 500 points (778), 500 rebounds (539), 100 blocks (119), 100 assists (102) and 50 steals (54).
Creek, a 6-foot-5 guard from Oxon Hill, Md., proved to be the perimeter spark the Colonials needed to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007, averaging a team-best 14.1 points and connecting on 80 three-pointers, the second-most in one season in program history, to earn Third Team All-Atlantic 10 honors.
