The University of Dayton women’s basketball team is ranked No. 24 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll.
It’s the first time the Flyers have been in the Top 25 since Dec. 7, 2009. It is the third time in history that UD is in the Top 25.
“We are honored that people are recognizing what our coaches and kids have done here at Dayton,” said UD Head Coach Jim Jabir. “If we are still ranked at the end of the season in the final poll that would truly be amazing.”
Dayton, with its 4-0 record, is coming off a 71-66 win over No. 13 Vanderbilt. UD also defeated then-ranked No. 25 DePaul to win the Maggie Dixon Classic on Nov. 10. The Flyers are one of two teams to knock off two nationally-ranked opponents already this season (the other is Tennessee).
In the polls last week the Flyers were receiving votes in the AP Top 25 poll (9) – 39th overall and in the USA Today Coaches Poll (4) – 40th overall.
Dayton hosts the Marriott Classic this Nov. 23-25. The Flyers will face Buffalo on Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. ET to open the Classic.
