Finishing the preview of the Atlantic 10’s incoming freshmen with a look at the Temple Owls. Temple finished 13-3 in the A-10 last year and 24-8 overall. Their season ended with a 58-44 loss to South Florida in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Michael Eric, Juan Fernandez and Ramone Moore have all moved on to the professional ranks. Fran Dunphy and his staff welcome three freshmen to campus:  Quenton DeCosey, Daniel Dingle and Devontae Watson.

Quenton DeCosey

Quenton DeCosey 6’5” 180lbs. G Union, N.J./St.Joseph’s Metuchen

Averaged 24.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists  as a senior last season at St. Joseph’s-Metuchen High…A first team all-State selection, he finished his career as the school’s second all-time leading scorer (1,608 points) behind former Duke great Jason Williams.

What they’re saying about Quenton DeCosey – Allen Rubin/Hoop Scoop: “Quenton Decosey could have been the second -best player in the state of new Jersey last year behind Kyle Anderson. It’s between him and a few others. He’s a very good player. He’s a good outside shooter who really gets to the rim. Very athletic. He has a chance to be a very good player.”

Daniel Dingle 6’6” 225lbs. G/F Bronx, N.Y./ St. Raymond’s

Daniel Dingle

Averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds and five assists per game in leading St. Raymond’s to the CHSAA Championship…Named 2012 CHSAA Player of the Year and New York Post All-Bronx Player of the Year…Ended his career third on the Ravens all-time scoring list.

What they’re saying about Daniel Dingle – Allen Rubin/Hoop Scoop: “Daniel Dingle is a very smart, very intelligent player. He’s a wing-forward. He’s an excellent passer and can really get to the rim. He gets to the foul line. Knows how to play. His outside shot is improving.

Devontae Watson

Devontae Watson 6’10” 210lbs. F/C Ambridge, Pa./Lincoln Park Center

A 2012 first team all-State selection…One of only two high school players to record over 1,000 points, rebounds and blocks in a career.  As a senior he averaged 12 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks in leading Lincoln Park Charter School to the 2012 Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) Championship.

What they’re saying about Devontae Watson – Allen Rubin/Hoop Scoop:  “He is a very good shot blocker. He’s probably one of the best shot blockers in the class. Good rebounder. His offense is limited. He scores strictly close to the basket.

Dalton Pepper joins the new faces for the Owls as a transfer. Pepper is a 6-5 forward out of Levittown, PA.
